Almost every school has a debating society. The debating society organizes debates. In a debate the speakers express their view on a subject. Some speakers put their arguments in fabour of the subject. Others speak against the topic. So, a debate is alively discussion.
The school debating society has a secretary and a president. a student who is interested in debate is nominated secretary of the debating society. He makes arrangements for holding debates. a teacher of the shool is the president of the debating society. All students of the school are members of the debating society. Debates are held on fixed days. The topic for a debate is fixed a few days before the debate is held. The students who want to take part in the debate give their names to the
secretary. The president of the debating society presides over the debate. He asks a student to open the debate. Then another student speaks against the topic. In this way the speakers of both sides are
allowed to express their views on the topic. At last the president give his own views and puts the topic to vote.
The school debating society is very useful. It teachers students the art of speaking. Debating is a necessary part of education. An educated man must be able to express his views clearly and effectively. Many good students cannot speak in public. It is necessary for the students of a school to take part in debates. If they do not know the art of speaking, they cannot pull through life. Their education will be incomplete if they do not take part in debates.
